Chief Larry Petersen is a State of California Fire Service Instructor and teaches Level 2 and 3 classes to firefighters from all departments.
In 1989 Larry started his fire service career out with Cal Fire (originally CDF) on an Engine Company, then transitioned with CAL Fire to be stationed at the Boggs Mountain Helitack in Cobb, California.
Petersen relocated to Sonoma County where he became a volunteer with Hessel FPD and a Fire Fighter Specialist with the City of Rohnert Park Public Safety from 1987 till 1991
In 1991, Petersen left CDF to become a Firefighter/EMT with the City of Petaluma where he served the Petaluma Fire Department over 10 years before transferring to the City of Santa Rosa Fire Department.
Petersen’s career accelerated in Santa Rosa, where he rose quickly through the ranks from Firefighter to Engineer, and Engine Company Captain.
Petersen has been involved with FEMA (California Task Force 4) out of Oakland since 2006 as a Rescue team Manager and is currently still active as a Transport Specialist. Larry has been assigned numerous deployments through-out the United States for natural disasters.
Since 2006 Petersen has served the Two Rock Volunteer Fire Department as their Assistant Chief.
